„With the Gloves off“ is an expression which can be traced to the end of the 19th century and the martial art of boxing. Originally it referred to the moment during a fight when a boxer took off his gloves and thus being able to hit the opponent even harder. This idiom found its way into common language. Today a journalist writes with their gloves off when they relentlessly criticize an issue.
To take off the gloves, the protection, in order to fight with one’s own skin,
to be stronger in the moment in which one exposes oneself, to be at the same time more vulnerable and therefore more powerful, this moment can be attributed to the struggles, fights and bodies represented in “With the Gloves off”.
All these people fight with their gloves off.
